Sandburg Men Drop Road Contest at No. 9 South Suburban

Sophomore Carter Fayhee (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) led the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team in scoring and rebounding, but the Chargers dropped a 78-55 decision at ninth-ranked South Suburban on Friday afternoon.

Fayhee finished with 14 points and led all players with nine rebounds. Sophomore Noah Young (Colfax, Ill./Ridgeview) added 10 points for Sandburg (13-4) on 4-of-8 shooting.

The Chargers shot 42 percent (20 of 48) from the field but hit just 1 of 9 3-point attempts as they dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season. Sandburg outrebounded the Bulldogs 31-24.

South Suburban (14-3) took a 37-27 lead into halftime and connected on 57 percent of its field-goal attempts (32 for 57).

Malcolm Bell paced the Bulldogs with a game-best 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting, including a 4-for-5 performance beyond the arc. Josh Falls had 16 points and Tariq Deere added 14 for South Suburban.

SCHEDULE ADDITION
Sandburg’s next contest is 7:30 p.m. Monday vs. Eureka JV in a game that was added to the schedule this week. The Chargers will then open their Arrowhead Conference schedule at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at home against Highland.
